Why the Jojoba Licorice & Damask Body Oil might just be the Best Body Oil for Every Skin Type
If you have been searching for the best body oil for dry skin, you have probably found a long list of options and yet very little explanation of why they actually work.
Most body oils are chosen for their scent or their texture. Jojoba is different. It earns its place not because it feels good (though it does), but because of what it is and what it shares with your own skin.
The Problem With Most Body Moisturisers
Most body lotions and creams are built around water.
They feel cooling and light on application, which is satisfying, but that sensation is largely the water evaporating. What is left behind is a layer of emulsifiers and occlusives designed to trap the moisture that was already in your skin, not to add anything new to it.
For dry and very dry skin, this is often not enough. And for skin that is sensitive, prone to breakouts, or disrupted in its natural balance, some of the synthetic ingredients in mainstream moisturisers can work against you as they can end up clogging pores, irritating the barrier, or creating a dependence on repeated applications.
Jojoba offers something different. It does not sit on top of your skin. It works with it.
What Makes Jojoba Unusual Among Oils
Here is something most people do not know: jojoba is not technically an oil at all.
It is a liquid wax, one that is structurally very close to the sebum your skin naturally produces.
Sebum is the skin's own moisturising system.
- It regulates hydration,
- protects the barrier, and
- keeps skin supple without feeling heavy.
When sebum production is disrupted by weather, washing, age, or the wrong products — skin becomes dry, tight, or erratic in ways that a surface-level moisturiser cannot fully fix.
Because jojoba's molecular structure is so similar to sebum, the skin recognises it!
- It absorbs quickly rather than sitting on the surface.
- It does not block pores.
- It does not leave a greasy film.
- And over time, it can help communicate to overactive sebaceous glands that moisture balance is being maintained. This is one reason it works well for people with body acne or sensitive skin.
Why the Oil You Start With Matters
Not all jojoba oil is the same. Cold-pressed jojoba retains its full profile of fatty acids and wax esters — the active components that do the work. Heat extraction speeds up processing but degrades those compounds in the process, which is why many cheaper oils feel heavy or inert by comparison.
At Nurture by Anita, we source our golden jojoba seeds from trusted farmers in Rajasthan, cold-press it to preserve its full potency, and then take it through our unique Slow Botanical Process — a curing method that no heat touches at any stage.
We Keep it Simple
Every formula at Nurture by Anita is 100% pure botanical — nothing diluted, nothing synthetic, because your skin deserves to know exactly what it is absorbing.
The Jojoba Licorice & Damask Rose Body Oil has three ingredients. That is by design.
- Jojoba does the structural work.
- Licorice brightens and evens tone gently over time.
- Damask rose brings its own quiet, skin-calming properties
and a scent that one of our customers described as something a Greek goddess would choose.
Nurture by Anita's Slow Botanical Process: Why We Do Not Rush It
Our Jojoba Licorice & Damask body oil is not made quickly. Once our botanicals are extracted and the blend is created — jojoba at the base, with licorice and damask rose (which are both farmed and grown in-house), it is cured slowly over weeks using natural heat from the sun or shade, depending on the season and the oil. This process takes 2-3 months easily depending on the ingredients and season.
How do we know its ready? We know it is ready when its texture has lightened, its scent has softened, the natural fragrance of the damasks has deepened, and the absorption feels almost velvety — not greasy, not thin, but genuinely smooth.
This matters because the end result is an oil that behaves differently to what we started with. Lighter. Faster absorbing. More effective. No artificial heat was used to speed that process up, which means nothing was lost along the way.
Our oils are cured and aged — a slower process that preserves the full potency of each botanical, rather than using heat extraction which degrades the active compounds.
Who the Jojoba Licorice & Damask Body Oil Is For
This oil was not made for one skin type. Because jojoba is non-comedogenic and absorbs without residue, it works across
- Dry and very dry skin looking for an all year oil, especially for the warm summer and sticky monsoon months!
- Sensitive skin looking for nothing synthetic, nothing that irritates
- Skin prone to body acne, because this is non-comedogenic, balancing rather than congesting
- People switching from cream or lotion to natural oils taht help build body's natural collagen plus with a texture that is light enough to feel familiar, without any synthetics or nasties.
One of our customers has used it through every season, including Chennai summers, and describes it as having no stickiness — even in heat.
That is the jojoba wax ester doing its job: absorbing fully rather than sitting on the surface and melting.
What People Are Actually Experiencing
We share this not to sell, but because the language people use to describe what the oil does tells you more than we could:
“The texture is luxurious and extremely lightweight. I have been using it for a year, through all seasons, without worrying about any stickiness.”
“It suits my highly sensitive skin. I love that it’s organic. Non-sticky and doesn’t stain clothes.”
“Smooth and light, making your skin supple and soft. A must for people who don’t want multiple body care products, but wish to have beautiful and healthy skin.”
That last line captures something important. A good body oil does not ask you to build an elaborate routine around it. It earns its place by being enough.
How to Use It
Apply to slightly damp skin after a shower — the moisture helps the oil spread and absorb. Start at the shins and work upward. You do not need much.
If you are new to body oiling, give it two to three weeks before comparing it to your usual moisturiser. The difference tends to become clearest over time, as the skin's natural barrier strengthens rather than relying on a daily fix.
Note: Jojoba is also a key ingredient in our Neem Jasmine Oil for curing Scalp & Skin Infections. This is a remedy oil formulated to target persistent skin infections due to psoriasis, eczema or fungal skin concerns.
Happy Skincare to You!
